Why The Correct Bra Size Is So Important

How does the wrong Bra size affect your posture in the long term.

The correct Bra can have the effect of lifting your confidence and changing your posture for the better.

Do you suffer with neck ache and shoulder stiffness? Are you quite big chested and as a young woman were quite self conscious about it and now notice that maybe you have rounded shoulders?

The wrong Bra size could mean that there is no support for your Breast and as a result your shoulders are being pulled forward, and you develop a slouched posture, while the correct Bra size would help discourage this it would be useful at this point to seek some professional help from an Osteopath to help you learn to engage the correct muscles and address the long term changes that may have developed.

The wrong Bra size could be responsible for that constant shoulder ache you have that goes into your neck and if that gets bad enough it can also lead to tension headaches.

The question is then How do you know if you have the correct Bra size?

There are a few tell tale signs.

  • Your breast are falling out of the Bra be it over spilling from above, below or the sides.
  • Your back strap is constantly riding up your back.
  • Your shoulder straps are constantly falling off your shoulders.
  • Your straps are leaving marks on the shoulder.
  • Your band is cutting into you and you constantly feel the need to adjust your Bra.
  • Underwiring from your Bra is cutting in.

Your Bra should be comfortable to wear the whole day you should almost forget you have one on if it is the correct size. You should be able to fully expand your chest to take a deep breath and not feel and restriction caused by  your Bra.

Remember that different bra types may also need a different size, while the band size may remain chances are that the cup size will change.

If your body shape has changed recently you've had a baby, lost weight or put on weight then please get your self measured and try on different Bra sizes to find the best fit for you.
